Year after year, Calgary has proven to be one of the most popular spots on the schedule. The area has a super active population, the camp benefits from solid local knowledge, and the word of mouth that's stemmed from the effectiveness of Trek Dirt Series skills instruction has been simply amazing.
We start all our camp mornings at Easter Seals Camp Horizon in Bragg Creek. We take care of our sign in and demo activities, run our morning skill development sessions right there, have lunch, and then head out for afternoon rides on the trails just nearby.
Cross-country focused options include Riverview, Pneuma, Moose Packers - Ridgeback and Powder Face - Prairie Link. More downhill focused options, which we'll shuttle, include Brakeless, Toothless, Race of Spades, T-Dub, Jean Guy on the Rocks, and Billy Dog.
Thanks to the Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society and the Calgary Mountain Bike Alliance, the trails are continuously updated and maintained. Pneuma and Ridgeback are two fairly new trails on the XC front, and the DH trails have some improved berms, jumps and technical trail features.
This year we’re offering three Calgary camps -- a co-ed one-day camp on Friday, a women's specific weekend camp, and then an extra women's specific one-day camp on Monday. There's also a new discount that applies if you take a one-day camp in sequence with a weekend camp; ask us for more info if you'd like.
No matter which camp you take, you'll be invited to a Saturday evening session of bike maintenance clinics, bike set up opportunities, product discounts, prizes, drinks and snacks. We're working out the details but expect this to be a fun opportunity for the coaches and participants from all the camps to meet and share stories.
We are so happy to welcome Calgary Cycle back on board as our host shop for our Calgary camps. They'll be offering camp participants discounts at all their locations through the month of June -- best pricing on bikes as well as 15% off on all regular priced items in store.
They'll also host an evening event on Saturday, June 8 for particpants and coaches from all three Calgary camps. It'll include maintenance sessions, bike set up opportunities, snacks, drinks, prizes, and special in store deals. Put it on your calendar.
The Venture Lodge at Camp Horizon has five rooms of shared accommodation, two separate bathrooms, a communal kitchen, and a common area. If you're taking part in the camp and want to wake up right where you'll be starting each day, you can book a spot for $40 per person / night.
Guests will need to bring their own sleeping bags or linens, but can trust they'll wake up to fresh Kicking Horse Coffee each morning. If you'd like more information or if you'd like to book, please email us.
If you'd prefer to stay in an individual guest house or B&B, your best bet is to do an online seach in Bragg Creek, Redwood Meadows, or Priddis. Booking accommodations in Calgary is also an option, as long as you don't mind driving about an hour each morning.
