While Winthrop is known in the winter for its great cross-country skiing network, in the summer the miles of trail turn into mountain biking joy. Longer rides offer access to the higher alpine and stunning panoramic views, while others twist and turn, winding through the valley, wooded areas, and streams.
Winthrop is a great camp location if you're looking for a cross-country or all-mountain experience, or even some introductory air oriented instruction in the mornings followed by some fun pedaling in the afternoons. In Winthrop you'll find fast flowing singletrack, swooping corners, fun climbs and descents, and some rooty and rocky sections too.
We run our morning skill development sessions on the field just across the road from Methow Cycle & Sport, and then head out to a variety of different trails for our afternoon instructional rides. These include both new and longstanding trails at Sun Mountain, as well as trips to Buck Mountain and Bear Mountain.
Winthrop is a beautiful northwest spot, this is the perfect time of year to visit, and the hospitality -- including an evening session featuring a fresh salmon BBQ and live music -- is second to none. This camp is co-ed.
During the camp weekend, Methow Cycle & Sport is offering participants 20% off regularly priced clothing and accessories, 10% off regularly priced bikes, and rental bikes for $50/day. To reserve a rental bike for camp, please contact the shop directly at 509-996-3645.
We are proud to have the Chewuch Inn back as our local accommodation sponsor. They're a three minute drive and, thanks to the bike path, a seven minute pedal from our host shop.
A two-night minimum stay is required for the camp weekend. It's also the 49'er weekend in Winthrop and Mother's Day, so definitely book early, as space will sell out.
Also consider the Chewuch Inn as your place to stay in Winthrop in the winter, whether you're fat biking or nordic skiing. You can find information on all the seasons on their website, and quiet time rates as well.
