What To Bring
Some of the things you’ll want to pack for your Dirt Series by Rocky Mountain Bicycles weekend are not too different from those you’d want to bring on your own riding excursion. Others are more specific to learning new technical skills. Here are our suggestions:
- Pack cycling gear for all potential weather, including rain.
- Don't forget your helmet and riding gloves. If you typically ride in a full face helmet, you might want to consider also bringing a regular helmet for some of the morning skill sessions, particularly if it looks like it’ll be hot out.
- Make sure you have a hydration pack or bottles so that you have lots of water during the day. Please fill these up before you arrive.
- We’ll provide you with delicious Luna energy bars during the camp, but if you'd prefer to be snacking on something else, bring it with you. Incidentally, we’ll also provide lunch.
- Remember sunscreen; we're sponsored by Brave Soldier so we can definitely top you up but it's good to start with some of your own.
- Bring an extra set of clothes with you on your first camp morning so that you can change into them after riding and before the evening in-shop sessions.
- Make sure that your bike is in good working order, freshly tuned by your favorite mechanic, and ready for an action packed mountain biking weekend. If you’re looking for more specifics on the best bike to bring check out the FAQ section.
- Bring a spare tube in case you get a flat tire, and basic riding tools if you have them. If you don’t already have basic riding tools, don’t worry. The coaches all have supplies, and the host shops offer great deals if you want to purchase your own during camp.
- Bring a set of leg and arm pads if you have them, or borrow them from a friend if possible. If not, we'll have a limited supply of Race Face armor available for demo, and in almost all cases the host shop will have some available for sale.
- Bring a pair of flat pedals if you have them, as they make it easier for any level of rider to learn and practice new skills. If you’re married to your clipless pedals, you can always try the morning sessions on flats and then switch back for your afternoon ride. We’ll have a limited supply of crankbrothers clipless and flat pedals to demo at camp as well.
- And finally ... bring shoes that are compatible with the pedals you’ll be using. It’s honestly very difficult to ride on any kind of clipless pedals with flat shoes, and equally difficult to ride on flat pedals with shoes that have cleats, high arches, or lots of ridges on the sole. In fact, for flat pedals, soft-soled flat skate shoes work perfectly. We promise.

Your camp has truly inspired me. Since the weekend I have agreed to lead a ride for a mountain bike club in my area, pinned the Fox Shox poster to my cube @ work, and been riding around a local park tracing painted lines, working manuals off curbs, track standing longer than ever, and practicing the 1/2 1/4 punches É all to the amusement of the other park goers.
