Santa Cruz, CaliforniaSaturday-Sunday, April 28-29Over the years this camp's become a hit, something that's especially great because there are few places we love visiting more than Santa Cruz. Not only do we get to see our friends at Fox Racing Shox and Bell, but the community welcomes the camp with open arms, and the variety of trails makes for some very fun riding. In the mornings we will run on-bike skill sessions at a park close to Epicenter Cycling. In the afternoons we'll head out in a number of different directions, so that each particular participant group gets to apply their new skills on a trail suited to their interests and abilities. Typically we ride in areas that are close by, such as Delaveaga, on Saturday afternoon, and we venture further, to places like the Soquel Demonstration Forest, on Sunday afternoon. We feel super lucky because to date we've been able to get a shuttling permit for Demo, so we can spend more time than usual teaching on the trails. Basically, whether you're into smooth singletrack, bermed corners, technical climbing, rolling drops, small to medium jumps, rock descents or natural log rides, the Santa Cruz camp will be a fantastic way to start the season.

Hotel Best Western: We've enjoyed staying at the Best Western in Aptos many times. The hotel is close to the host shop and offers a great base for the weekend. Plus, there's a heated pool and hot tub to relax in and get you geared up for the next day's ride. Due to the busy season in Santa Cruz, there are not able to offer us a discounted group rate. Regular rates range from $129 to $159. Call 1-800-367-2003 to book and please mention that you're with the Trek Dirt Series, just so that they know. Camping New Brighton State Beach: This is the nearest site to the host shop and offers RV sites for $35 a night. Call 1-800-444-7275 to make a reservation.
