Year after year, our Calgary camp has proven to be one of the most popular on the schedule. The area has a super enthusiast and active population, the camp benefits from solid on-site support, and the word of mouth that's stemmed from learning all kinds of mountain bike skills has been simply amazing.
We now have two Calgary camp dates - one in June, hosted by Pure Cycle, and one in August, hosted by Calgary Cycle. Both will feature morning skill sessions in Bragg Creek, and afternoon rides on the wide variety of technical cross-country and freeride trails just nearby.
The cross-country trails on our list include Riverview, Pneuma, Moose Packers - Ridgeback and Powder Face - Prairie Link. The downhill focused trails, which we'll shuttle, include Brakeless, Toothless, Race of Spades, T-Dub, Jean Guy on the Rocks and Billy Dog.
Thanks to the Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society (MMBTS) and the Calgary Mountain Bike Alliance (CBMA), the trails have been continuously updated and maintained. The downhill trails include fast and flowy sections with jumps and technical trail features. There are also two fairly new trails on the cross- country front -- Pneuma and Ridegback. Camp participants will be thrilled.
NEWS: The Highway Department is putting in a new bridge across the Elbow River and it's scheduled to be done by mid August. That means that, despite the flooding that's occurred, we'll have access to all the regular Moose Mountain trails for this year's end of August camp. Although of course we'd already scouted out new options just in case...
